Why I picked Huxleian

This blog is an experiment where I'm documenting my travels and creating photo essays. I love writing, and after detoxing myself from social media websites, I looked back and wondered what did I really "have" or "leave." - Absolutely nothing.

I feel the web nowadays is pretty hostile to original content, especially if you use walled gardens like Facebook, Blogger, or Reddit.

As for the name,

Huxleian:

adjective

of, relating to, or characteristic or suggestive of Aldous Huxley

or his writings.of or relating to Thomas Henry Huxley,  his biological work, or his writings.

two

Yes, I like them both - Huxley for Dystopia and Huxley for Anthropology. Studying bones, Osteology and the collection of unique specimans is a fun art and pursuit.

Reading Brave New World and Doors of Perception really expanded my thinking and imagination. Cliche, yes but this blog exists for me to document in true irony how real life inefficiencies work and to explore things I just don't want to put on "social media." - If you were around for the old net, then imagine this as an old angelfire/geocities site. Whatever you wanted, you could write, and you could create a nice webring of similar sites and bring together likeminded people.

In Brave New world - Society is split into castes, technology ore-determines your outcome and life meaning. This can be stability and control.

Society also is always at the brink of not being stable. The past two years have shown how interesting the world can be, especially if you can travel.

Which I have been doing.

Coronavirus, Consumerism and such are earmarks of control on society - that modify human behavior. While the factors are truly external but are products of humans, it can have chilling effects.

Consumerism is embraced because people seek/want to consume goods, and people who are employed in this space will stay employed. Financial insecurity is also key to society control. It's a loop. Busywork, or endless work.

Peoples whobeing, reason and energy is to "productivity" so they can "consume"

But at what cost to society? We have mass consumerism , social unrest and pandemic(s.) We have social media, which "tell" people what to do. We have no "dislike" button so everything now is an agreement on facebook, youtube, other misc social media platforms.

We really are already living in such a dystopia.

The Other Huxley:

I enjoy biology, plants/botany, mycology, osteology, anatomy and looking and comparing differences.

My background is (bad) statistics, so something as simple as OR IF statements, or outliers stand out.

As a kid, I always enjoyed doing the math to see which which step or purchase gave me the most "value" and then defining what is "Value".

While that's a bit far off from Thomas Henry Huxley, it admires how similar things happen in the world of evolution, where observations can create corrleations and explain many obvious things.
